Let’s wrap up another regular season of Major League Baseball with three quick points followed by an update on the Nationals and Orioles.
- National League Looks Strong: The three division winners in the National League, the Braves, Brewers and Dodgers, all look tough to beat. American League could be lambs to the slaughter this October.
. - First Round Wild Card Games: Red Sox vs. Yankees. Need I say more?
. - Post-Season Awards: Soon it will be award time. Pete Crow-Armstrong in the National League and Yordan Alvarez in the American League are the runaway favorites for MVP. Alvarez was just Pete Alonso away from a Triple Crown.
Nationals (77-85): Four games below the watermark. I was hoping for a few games over .500 this season, but oh well. I’m disappointed that the Nationals were sellers at the trade deadline. Staying put would’ve been better, but we’ll see. CJ Abrams had a great year. He led shortstops in homeruns (33) and RBI (106). Friendly reminder, he’s from the Padres in the Juan Soto deal.
Orioles (79-82): What happened? Most fans had the O’s competing for the division title. Not this season and it was tough. Trading Adley Rutschman in the division to the Red Sox is unforgiveable. Fire the GM. It’s a generational setback kind of trade. Really, fire all the fools who approved that deal. And to think, some B’more reporter said the O’s were in a playoff race. Imagine thinking you are in a playoff race and trade away a switch-hitting all-star catcher to a team you are trying to top in your own division. Hahaha. It’s funny, but only if you’re not a O’s fan.
