Mon. Mar 30th, 2026

Let’s go around Major League Baseball for three quick points followed by an update on the Nationals and Orioles. Tune in each Monday.

  • Opening Day: The 2026 season is underway. MLB started with one primetime game on Netflix. The Yankees beat the Giants. It was a good choice of teams to start the season. The Giants have one the best ballparks in the league and the San Fransico Bay wind makes an otherwise routine pop fly fairly entertaining. The New York market is massive so even minimum numbers of viewership would still give MLB and Netflix a nice start. Coast-to-coast streaming of a coast-to-coast match-up is a smart play.
  • Skenes Shelled, Sukbal Scoreless: Reigning National League Cy Young winner Paul Skenes of the Pirates gave up 5 runs in a loss against the Mets and didn’t make it out of the First Inning. Peacock showed the game. Two-time American League Cy Young winner Tarik Subal threw 6 scoreless innings with 6 Ks and no walks for the win as the Tigers beat the Padres on Opening Day.
  • Dodgers Open in Hollywood Style: The Dodgers opened the season at home with their back-to-back World Series trophies. Will Ferrell drove a convertible on the field, part-owner and Lakers legend Magic Johnson threw out the first pitch, and celebs came out. The Dodgers then picked back up right where they left off. Just like the last game of last season, Will Smith hit a homerun, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw gas and got the win. The Dodgers and their payroll are going to be tough to beat this season.

Nationals (2-1): Won their opening series in Chicago against a good Cubs team. Nationals new manager Blake Butera got his first win in his first game, congratulations. Next up- Phillies in Philly.
Orioles (2-1): Won their opening series at home against the Twins. Next up- Rangers at Camden Yards.
