A new session has started in Richmond for Virginia’s General Assembly.

Virginia’s Legislative Information System (LIS) is a great resource during session. They offer a lot of transparency.

Daily floor calendars are a good way to track what’s on schedule. Here is LIS’s link to both the Senate and House floor calendars. The whole General Assembly schedule, which includes committee and caucus meetings, and press conferences, is listed here. LIS also has links to each individual member with their proposed legislation and contact information so that constituents can let their legislators know they feel.

These are valuable resources that need to be utilized by the public. Plenty of available transparency doesn’t mean much if there is no accountability to follow.

Let’s hope limited government will win this year.
