President Donald Trump gave the longest State of the Union speech ever. The marathon lasted for one hour and forty-eight minutes. That’s far too long, but never mind the length. It’s the optics that may have ended this primetime speech.
If the plan was to trap congressional Democrats, then it worked incredibly well. It is difficult to imagine why anyone would stay in their seats for the mother of murder victim Iryna Zarutska, but Democrats did. Trump looked at them in disbelief and asked, “How do you not stand? How do you not stand?”
Democrats couldn’t stand for protecting children from predators who want to secretly turn kids into transgender mental patients. Trump said, “Surely we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents’ arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents will.” Nope, Democrats couldn’t agree to that and remained seated. Transgender nonsense is still very much a proud part of the Democrat Party agenda, which is literally insane. Democrats need to stop pushing transgender lies.
The negative images from the speech are entirely one-sided. The sitting Democrats will be featured in a lot of Republican campaign commercials this fall. Democrats have themselves to blame. Maybe they were scared of a primary challenger. Now imagine being a Democrat who is motivated to run because an incumbent stood up for murder victims and kids. Yikes.
The rhetoric describing the debate is just as bad as the images. CNN and The Atlantic described the speech as a gameshow with Trump handing out prizes like a gameshow host. Those hateful leftists are specifically talking about the Legion of Merit to Scott Ruskan for saving flood victims, and the Purple Heart to Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe of the West Virginia National Guard who were ambushed in DC. That’s really distasteful to dismiss those acknowledgements as gameshow like. Their comments will also likely be featured in Republican campaign ads this fall.
News outlets have reported that Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger gave the Democrat Party response. Congratulations to her, so did every congressional Democrat, just take a look at their social media accounts.
Actions have consequences. Mid-term elections are coming up. Democrats were projected by some talking heads to take over control of the US House. If the proposed gerrymandered map in Virginia is approved, then Democrats are almost certain to take the House. If so, then the new Democrat speaker would be the one to invite the president to speak. It’s doubtful Rep. Hakeem Jeffries will offer Trump the primetime stage. It’s doubtful Jeffries will allow for another repeat of the Democrats’ embarrassing reactions.
But then again, maybe not. First off, the disastrous optics could lead to Republicans keeping the House. More to the point, Jeffries and congressional Democrats are so delusional they believe sitting and pouting was a good idea. They may want to do it again. If they are insane enough to push transgender lies on kids, then they are insane enough to believe anything.
If the primetime speech is kaput, then that’s ok. Thomas Jefferson sent a courier. The republic survived.
The set-up was on. President Trump said some real low-bar, perfectly normal things, and all Democrats had to do was join, but no, they couldn’t. Sad.
