Last week the Virginia Department of Education announced revisions to the previous administration’s education policies. The new guidelines keep parents involved and keep classrooms focused on teaching.
The guidelines take a more responsible approach to how government-run schools are to handle those few children who falsely believe they can change their gender. There will be no secrets kept from parents. Adults who keep secrets with children from parents shouldn’t be in a school. The new guidelines also protect girls’ sports by requiring biological males to compete against biological males.
With the change, the Dept. of Education is asking for public comments, from Virginians, not bots.
Education needs to be grounded in truth. Telling a child that they are born in the wrong body is a horrible, dehumanizing lie and something no teacher anywhere should be spreading. The lies need to stop. If an adult wants to put on a dress, then he can. A child in school doesn’t have that same level of live-off-the-reality-grid yet, and so parents need to be involved.
The leftists who are opposed to the guidelines have no case other than hurt feelings. Never mind science, never mind reason, never mind facts; it’s all about emotion. The name-calling and hatred in the public comments from the leftists who want to lie to kids and keep secrets from parents are disappointing.
Anti-bullying standards are not diminished by the new guidelines. Bullys will not be allowed to target anyone, and any violations of anti-bullying will meet strict punishments.
I support the new guidelines because they keep parents involved, protect girls’ sports, and return classroom focus to teaching truth.
