The inventive White House has found a new way to congratulate themselves for record high inflation. In a since deleted tweet, the White House pointed out that Social Security checks increased at a ten year high. But there’s a problem with that.
The increase in the checks is, by law, directly tied to the Consumer Price Index, which is impacted by inflation. The cost-of-living adjustments that have increased the Social Security checks are a result of record high inflation and are designed to offset the wide-ranging costs increases we are currently experiencing. In short, this is nothing to celebrate.
Rep. Thomas Massie shared the White House’s now deleted tweeted with the following-
Note the additional information at the bottom of the White House’s tweet, which surely led to the tweet being deleted.
New Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted, “The system is working.”
Asked about this at today’s White House press briefing, the press sec said, “The tweet was not complete.” That sounds like a fib. The self-congratulatory tweet looked like a finished product.
The White House was caught on Twitter sharing misleading information. Maybe this is why liberals are so upset that Elon Musk has taken over Twitter.
