Let’s go around Major League Baseball for three quick points followed by an update on the Nationals and Orioles. Tune in each Monday.
- Dodgers Hot Start: The two-time defending World Series champion Dodgers are off to a hot start with a league best 11 wins, but their 11-4 record only puts them one and half games ahead of their division rival Padres. Dodgers’ Centerfielder Andy Pages is leading both leagues in hits and batting average.
- Yankees 5 Game Skid: The New York Yankees began the year with an American League leading 8-2 record. They have since hit a 5-game losing streak and find themselves in a three-way tie in the East.
- Tatis Plays Second: Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr., the National League’s best Right Fielder, played two games at Second Base over the weekend. He came into the league as a Shortstop, but has been playing Right for several seasons. There is too much specialization in regard to positions. Baseball players are athletes, let ’em play around the diamond.
Nationals (7-8): Swept a good Brewers team in Milwaukee. James Wood is hitting .274 and is tied for 2nd in the National League with 5 homeruns.
Next up- Pirates in Pittsburgh and ace Paul Skenes is set to pitch on Monday evening.
Orioles (8-7): Tied for first in the East with the Devil Rays and Yankees after taking advantage of a get-well series versus White Sox with a sweep, then took of 2 out of 3 from Giants. Gunnar Henderson is tied for first in the American League with 6 homeruns.
Next up- home with the Diamondbacks, then off to Cleveland to play the first-place Guardians.
