Another snow season is drawing to an end, but not without one last hurrah.

When the snow falls, don’t put your car’s windshield wiper blades up in the air.

It offers no benefit to dangle your wiper blades in the air. When it comes time to dig your car out of winter’s offering, blades up or down, you’ll still have to carefully take your time. There is no noticeable time saving advantage here. When it comes time to get down to the blades, once you have freed them, you can raise them up for a minute to scoop out the remaining slushy mix.

Blades up only creates a situation of potential harm. They weren’t built for that option. Wiper blades were made to stay on your windshield. They were not made to stand straight-up during a windy snowstorm.

For clearing off your vehicle, begin by starting your car and run the defroster at max. We’ve all experienced defrosters that don’t work or don’t work well, either way, with the car on and starting at the top, by the time you get to the wipers, carving them out won’t be any more difficult than handling any other part of the window. And you’ll eliminate the possibly of the wipers being damaged during the storm.

With no benefit and only potential harm there is no reason to put your wipers up. For your car and for yourself, keep your windshield wiper blades down during a snowstorm.
