Now that the charade of propping up Joe Biden during his twilight years of senility is over, the debates on his presidential legacy can begin in earnest.
Presidents are often remembered by major legislation they signed into law, a peace accord or treaty, or through their nominees to the federal courts, especially the Supreme Court. Looking at those metrics, Biden, at best, could only be considered a hardline partisan who failed to unite the country in any shape or form. But it is tough to focus on those tradition metrics now that Biden ran roughshod through his last few days.
Biden could very well be remembered as the president who abused his power with the justice system more so than any other president, and yet the Gaza Pier is a greater embarrassment and more apt for Biden’s legacy.
Pardons
Last month Biden pardoned is son Hunter on federal gun and tax charges. This came after a long line of promises to honor the ruling and not to issue a pardon. It was tough to watch Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre try to dance through an explanation for the White House Press Corps. Of course, we never got one as to what specifically changed from between all the definitive promises and issuing of the pardon. Something about Rep. Jim Clyburn as a potential scapegoat, but that didn’t exactly land. We don’t know what happened.
We don’t know what happened behind the curtain of the big nominee swap between the “Big Guy” and Vice President Kamala Harris. But that’s another story all together.
There was an expectation after Biden broke his promise and pardoned his son that more pardons were going to come. But wow, no one was expecting this. Biden set a new record for presidential pardons, more than 8,000. Barry O had the old record of just under 2,000. Amazing. Shattered. A record out-of-reach to be approached.
And then there’s the preemptive pardons. What a wild concept. Biden wants us to believe that his crime family didn’t commit any crimes, so he issued them a pardon before they can be charge with anything. What do preemptive pardons say about our justice system? Biden told us the justice system doesn’t target based on politics. Yeah, right. The idea of preemptive pardons was laughed at and mocked by liberal media talk show hosts in 2021. So now what do they do? Tribalism in our major media outlets is a problem. Standing on principles, and staying on principles, helps as a guide during tough times. Biden has put plenty of his defenders in a tough situation with his pardon extravaganza.
Biden also made a rather confusing commitment on abolishing the death penalty when he commuted the death sentence of all federal inmates on death row, save three. Whether you are for or against the death penalty is a matter for another discussion, but I hope you we can agree that unilateral action on violent, convicted offenders is not the appropriate way to achieve that desired goal. But most confusing was that the reason for commuting the sentences was framed against the death penalty based on principle, which doesn’t explain why a few were left to die. Moreover, waiting until he had one foot out the door is a cowardly time to attempt to unilaterally end the death penalty. It doesn’t look like death penalty abolitionists will cheer Biden’s legacy too loud.
Immigration
There’s always immigration to consider. Biden’s porous borders have allowed millions to illegally enter this country. The estimates on the exact number of illegal immigrants vary, but they all list the totals in millions. Right now, there aren’t many Democrats really celebrating this. The message from national Democrats has always seemed to downplay the border situation. But let’s hope immigration mistakes are not a big part of Biden’s legacy because Donald Trump has promised to mobilize deportations on a large scale. That is a reasonable and reachable goal, which if obtained, would lessen the negative impact from Biden’s blunders on the border and therefore prevent it from lasting as Biden’s legacy.
Legislation, Foreign Policy, the Courts
Back to the more traditional methods, but that doesn’t save Biden. Major legislation signed by Biden includes a huge spending package on infrastructure, which embarrassingly under-qualified Mayor Pete failed to deliver on. He also signed something called the Inflation Reduction Act, which Democrats cheer as “the biggest climate bill in history.” So, did the bill tackle inflation or phantom climate villains? Shouldn’t the Inflation Reduction Act be cheered for reducing inflation? Well, the numbers show inflation persistent after the “biggest climate bill in history” was passed. Imagine that.
In regard to foreign policy, Biden has no successes to tout. Afghanistan withdrawal was a failure. If Biden thinks he brokered the deal to free the Israeli hostages from Hamas, then he can, at best, share the credit with his successor, and it’s not a very good deal to brag about anyways. Three hostages were released in exchange for dozens of jailed terrorists. It will be weeks before more hostages are released, and Israel doesn’t even know which hostages are alive and which have died (were murdered) in captivity.
Russia invaded Ukraine under Biden, so no success in diplomacy there. The result was an unlimited amount of cold hard cash going to Ukraine. While Americans in North Carolina have no heat, we sent billions to Ukraine. No president should be allowed to empty our treasury to a foreign power like Biden did, and especially not to a country that offers no strategic interest to our national security.
For the Supreme Court, yet another unforced error with the nomination Ketanji Brown Jackson. It is against the law to discriminate based on gender and race when hiring someone. Biden said, “I’ve made no decision except one: the person I nominate will be someone with extraordinary qualifications, character, experience and integrity – and that person will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the United States Supreme Court.” He then said, “it’s long overdue,” which puts the entire spotlight on “the first Black woman” part. Never mind the “extraordinary qualifications” because any qualifications won’t be addressed until after unlawfully arriving at the desired gender and race. Specifically ruling that only one gender and only one race will be considered is wrong. A president can’t do that, but Biden did, and then Senator Hirono instantly promised to confirm this yet to beknown nominee. What do you call a mindless rubber stamp? Some legacy. Biden needs to look elsewhere for an honorable legacy.
Where Else Can We Look?
Something about “new” jobs is the most padded stat ever. In response to the Wuhan virus, the government forced people to close their businesses and far too many people lost their job. The same government then decreed that the Wuhan virus, which must’ve paused itself for John Lewis’s funeral, was no more and businesses could reopen. You can have the jobs stat, I’m not buying it.
The student loan forgiveness plan was another failure. That plan best belongs in Biden’s abuse of power over the justice system as he ignored court rulings.
“The 28th Amendment is the law of the land,” claims Biden. Hilarious. The graphic the White House used for this actually says “President Biden Declares.” Nothing will amount from his declaration. Democrats can file this one in the abuse of power section as well.
A return to normalcy, a promise based on a false premise that blamed Donald Trump for everything, also failed. Democrats really ran hard with transgender nonsense. Men is dresses made rank in our military, bathrooms lost their privacy, and girls were dominated by boys in sports. Tim Waltz, the Democratic nominee for vice president and governor of Minnesota, signed legislation to put tampon dispensers in the boys’ bathroom in Minnesota High Schools. Transgender doesn’t exist. You can say it, it’s alright. Some out of fear, some out of incompetence, yet Democrats won’t say that transgender doesn’t exist. They teach transgender lies to children. A return to normalcy? If you think transgender is the path to normalcy, then you must be literally crazy, please seek help.
Gaza Pier
Joe Biden’s legacy should be the Gaza Pier. Biden built Hamas, Israel’s enemy, during a war, a pier to offload supplies for terrorists. The ridiculous belief was that aid was not getting into Gaza. The aid was always coming through. For some reason unbeknownst to me, Israel never laid siege. Aid came in, but Hamas then, didn’t steal it because they are the chosen leaders of the Gaza, simply took control of it and then used it to allow their people to starve.
There was never a need to build a pier, but we couldn’t even build one. The pier sunk. It didn’t work. Hardly anything, if anything, was offloaded. It cost millions and failed on a spectacular level. The symbolism of this failure in the international community, a problem Democrats like to focus on, somehow escaped them this time. Imagine that.
The real reason Biden built the pier may have been to placate Arab Muslims in Michigan, a targeted swing state for the 2024 election. Israel’s existence is far more important than the concerns of a bunch of un-American, wannabe terrorists. Biden felt otherwise, and in the end, Michigan voted for Donald Trump.
The Gaza Pier, before it sank, didn’t deliver aid and it didn’t deliver electorally either. It has to be Joe Biden’s greatest failure and his most enduring legacy.
